El Camino College To Host Smart Manufacturing Conference

El Camino College in Partnership with CADENCE, CESMII & UCLA Presents:

Make Smart Manufacturing Work for You

We invite small-to-medium-size manufacturers to join us at El Camino College on Tuesday, October 25th to learn how to harness the inherent intelligence within your manufacturing facility to improve performance, scheduling and reduce costs. The Make Smart Manufacturing Work for You Conference will feature industry-renowned speakers who will discuss smart manufacturing best practices for small and medium size businesses.

You can register for this conference by going to: EventBrite

Keynote speakers include:

Rob Schoenthaler

Rob Schoenthaler, Chief Revenue Officer, ThinkIQ

Rob is CRO of ThinkIQ. He has 25 years of experience in enterprise software, analytics, IIoT, strategy, supply chain & manufacturing.

ThinkIQ is the leader in Transformational Intelligence for Manufacturers, contextualizing data — both in-plant and across your supply chain — to make real-time, informed decisions that decrease cycle time and increase margins without retrofit, or the need for expensive IT infrastructure. With ThinkIQ Vision, decision-makers are fed continuous actionable intelligence, enabling them to take immediate action to correct operational issues and keep production running at target capacities.

Using Vision to Scale AI/ML in Manufacturing

Adopting Smart Manufacturing as a broad practice has proven to be a challenge to many organizations due to the lack of Big Data sources for areas of their operations – especially those areas that would logically be the best places to gain competitive advantages with SM. For smaller organizations, this could even mean no big data at all due to lack of modern “connectable” equipment, or concentrations of manual activities in their production processes.

In this presentation, we will explore the use of cameras as a “sensor” to turn images and videos into Big Data for equipment, materials and people in just about any area of your operations using AI/ML. We will also look at how Big Data from machine vision can be treated like any other data source when it comes to identifying insights and recommendations to make your manufacturing smart.

Andrew Johnson

Andrew Johnson, Founder & CEO, ShelfAware LLC

Andrew Johnson is an entrepreneur, inventor, and business owner. Previously, he was the sales manager for his family’s distribution company, O-ring Sales & Service.

ShelfAware is an RFID-based intelligent inventory system provider that allows manufactures to leverage an integrated supply chain. By combining IoT, big data, and automated analytics in technological platform, the company allows OEMs to leverage purchased inventory. ShelfAware’s mission is to make an effective, accurate, and efficient data-driven supply chain platform that even the smallest manufacturers can afford to implement.

Start Small for BIG Innovation

Whether your company is looking at pulling the trigger on new smart equipment, a pivot toward virtual sales & remote service, or discussing grand ideas like Industry 4.0, too many industrial companies are falling prey to the temptation to swing for the fences, attempting to hit an innovation homerun, and inevitably striking out. This go-for-it-all scenario rarely wins the game. In reality, digital transformation is a slow, intentional process of incremental innovations that lead to the big win. In this session you will learn how tackling bite-sized innovations, many times modifying existing infrastructure, can accomplish your major goals without swinging for the fences and investing in an entirely new system. This session will tackle the topic of innovation in practical terms with a discussion lead by a true practitioner with a desire to share his story and in so doing help other companies find their way in this turbulent landscape. We will explore what a digital company looks like and how your company can tackle the Who, What, & How of digital transformation and implement today!
